Many people experience hemorrhoids at some point, even pregnant women. They form when the veins in your rectum have too much pressure on them. Even if this is not something a lot of people talk about, this condition is quite common. This article can help you better understand the causes and treatments so that you can learn how to avoid them.

You can decrease your chances of getting external hemorrhoids by practicing better hygiene in the bathroom. Use soft toilet paper that does not leave lint behind, and use a moist towelette to clean yourself after each bowel movement.

If you are coping with the unpleasantness of hemorrhoids, do not be worried because there is relief out there for you. Take a sitz bath a few times daily, for about ten minutes each time. You may also find it helpful to apply a soothing homemade ice pack to the affected area.

A commercially available product for hemorrhoids can be purchased under the brand name of Rutin. Sometimes hemorrhoids appear as a result of blood vessels that are not very strong. Rutin facilitates proper Vitamin C absorption, and is a flavonoid able to help make blood vessels stronger. It occurs naturally in buckwheat seed, citrus fruits, and in onions and broccoli. For strong blood vessels, take 500mg as a supplement each day.

Witch hazel is very effective in alleviating the pain caused by hemorrhoids. This astringent will help shrink the hemorrhoids and bring relief. Apply witch hazel to a cotton ball then let it set for up to 10 minutes. You can also add it in a sitz bath.

If you have hemorrhoids, you should avoid using products that contain dyes, oils and fragrance as they may exacerbate your condition. Exposing your hemorrhoids to these products can cause serious pain and itching.

Too much strain while using the bathroom is one major cause of hemorrhoids. Stools will move more freely if you absorb large quantities of water and maintain a diet that is low in refined foods. Assuming a squatting position may make it easier to avoid straining while having a bowel movement. When using the toilet, a stool placed at your feet can help. Interestingly, hemorrhoids don’t plague cultures for whom it is customary to squat while using the toilet to the degree that they plague those accustomed to the porcelain niceties.

As previously noted, painful hemorrhoids can occur with pregnancy and also after childbirth. This condition is just caused from increased anus pressure. You can create a plan for prevention and cure based on the information that has been provided to you here, and this could very well ease the suffering that you are experiencing.
