Eye care is essential to overall health. Unfortunately, most people aren’t sure how to care for their eyes. However, this article is going to give you all kinds of great information about eye care.

It’s actually important not only to wear sunglasses during the summer but the winter as well. Snow can reflect a great deal of light. Regardless of the temperature, the rays will still be there.

Figure out if eye problems run in your family. If so, you need to let your eye doctor know about it. You can have your optometrist test for hereditary conditions that you find out about. By catching an eye problem sooner, you can spare your vision.

What you consume can greatly affect your vision. Your eyes can stay healthy over time when your diet is rich in vitamins like C and E, as well as zinc and omega-3 fats. Tuna, beans, salmon, nuts, leafy greens and oranges all are foods with those nutrients.

Increasing the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids in your diet is a great way to care for your eyes. Make sure your diet has the right nutrients in it. Leafy greens and fish are great ways to get these fatty acids. You want to have at minimum a serving of one of these foods each day.

Sunglasses are a wonderful form of UV protection for your eyes. UV rays can cause eye and skin damage, even on cloudy days. Be sure to look for UV protection when selecting shades. There may be an additional cost; however, your eye health is more important.

Try wearing sunglasses. Choose proper eyewear to protect from sun damage. You can develop cataracts or macular degeneration if you are exposed to too many UV rays. Pick sunglasses that block UVB and UVA rays. For optimal protection, choose wraparound sunglasses.

If you blink often, it might be an eye issue. This may be something that you do when nervous or stressed. If your excessive blinking is caused by stress, find ways to relax. If you believe it is not simply a tic, see an ophthalmologist.

Help your eyes out by wearing a pair of good sunglasses. They will help your eyes by blocking UV rays. Pick up a pair of sunglasses that offer at least 99 percent protection from UVA and UVB rays. If you enjoy driving, polarized lenses are important. They will help with glare reduction. Even with contacts that have UV protection, sunglasses are still necessary.
